My Own Creative Journey
My name is Gerard Puccio and I love my work. For nearly 30 years I have served as a professor at the Center for Applied Imagination, Buffalo State, and for the last 20 years I have had the good fortune to lead this renowned center for applied creative thinking as its Department Chair and Director. For the better part of my life, I have been committed to the development and study of creativity.
As a professor, I have taught well over a 1,000 graduate students, wrote over 60 books, chapters and articles, and delivered over 50 keynote speeches. As a creativity researcher, I have developed a theory and self-report measure of creative-thinking preferences, called FourSight©, that has been used by over 100,000 people worldwide. As a trainer, I have delivered creativity programs to more than 200 organizations in 30 countries around the globe. My years of experience have helped me to amass a body of knowledge and practices proven to promote greater levels of creativity, creative problem solving, and creative leadership.
At this point in my career, my great desire is to democratize creativity – to help individuals, teams, and organizations reach their greatest potential by tapping into and expanding their capacity to imagine new possibilities and to creatively address complex problems. In a world defined by complexity and change, creative thinking has become the number one survival skill.
My mission is to help individuals, teams and organizations ignite and fully maximize their creative potential – not just to survive, but to thrive.
For me, getting to know Dr. Puccio and his concepts on creativity, and innovation, has been a journey of discovery. His concepts of leadership have shown me that It is not about a solitary genius, but it is about awakening the collective genius. It is about creating the space where people have a collaborative attitude.
